Most protein supplement brands will advise that a shake should be consumed within 20 minutes of mixing. Some types of protein powder might even smell worst than others… im looking at you hydrolysed protein.

How to Get the Smell Out Of Your Shaker Bottle

1. Let your shaker bottle steep in vinegar water.

1. Pour some boiling water into a bowl.
2. Add some vinegar.
3. Remove the lid from your protein shaker.
4. Place both parts into the boiling water.
5. Let it sit for an hour or so.

The water should smell all kinds of funky right about now. Remove your shaker cup from the bowl and voila. Now you know how to get the smell out of a blender bottle and how to clean your proteins shaker bottle.

2 – The Baking Soda Shake

Fill your shaker with warm-hot water. Add a teaspoon of baking soda, and then shake it up as you would a regular protein shake.

Warning… do not drink.

Pour this out, then give it a quick rinse. Fill it back up with hot water, and let it sit for an hour or so.

This should have got rid of that foul odor that was partying inside your shaker.

3 –  Wash It After Every Use

That’s she said – right? I digress….

Pour this water out, and rinse it out once more.

Yes – as long as it is not too hot. Warm water is fine. DO NOT pour boiling water into a shaker and put the lid onto shake it. The pressure will make water leak out and could cause the lid to explode off.

4 – Dry It Thoroughly

It should go without saying, but a lot of people don’t do this.

Just washing it isn’t enough. The moist can make your blender bottle smell funky, especially if you leave the lid on.

Grab a tea towel and make sure that you get the bottom bone dry.
