Protein Lifestyle Chicken Breast Review

I’ll start as I mean to go on, breast is best.

Anyone knows that chicken breast is a bodybuilding diet staple. Packed full of protein, no carbs, and low in fat. Its the cornerstone of my diet, as i happily eat it 3-4 times a day.

However all chicken breast’s are not made equal. Just like any man, I like my breast in a particular way. Ok im going to stop with the cheap innuendos now.

On a serious note though, I am very picky when it comes to Chicken Breast. When i find a supplier I like, I stick with it. Some supermarkets will pump their chicken breast with water, additives, and other crap. I like my breast to be natural (damn it I said i was gonna stop with the innuendos!)

Anyway Protein Lifestyle recently sent me a 5kg pack of their Chicken Breast to try. What did I think? Read on to to find out!

Overview

If you’re like me then chicken will take up a big part of your diet. Its probably the most “bro” bodybuilding meal protein source I can think of. I easily go through a good 3-4 servings of chicken breast a day.

However you don’t have to eat your chicken plain and dry to benefit from it. There’s so much you can do with Chicken. Oven bake, grill, fry or boil. This bodybuilding basil chicken curry is a must try if you don’t like it try.

Its easy to eat, tasty and can be seasoned in a ton of ways. Whether you want to eat it “dry” or in some sauce or fancy lean mean cuisine dish, Chicken should be on your menu.

If you’re like me, you’ll be going through a ton of chicken if you’re eating a high protein diet to gain muscle.

Because I eat so much chicken, im always looking for the cheapest source, without sacrificing quality.

Butchers sometimes have good quality chicken going for cheap, but this isn’t a “reliable” source I find. Their prices vary almost weekly (at least from my experience) depending on how much stock they’ve got.

I would never buy “cheap cheap” chicken breast. By this I mean the stuff that is like 90% chicken, 5% water, 3% additives and 100% shit. Im pretty sure those numbers are about right.

Protein Lifestyle chicken breast comes in 5kg packs. It is also certified Halal Chicken.

Packaging

It comes delivered well protected. My parcel arrived in a standard brown courier style parcel box. Inside of this box (which was a nightmare to get into because of how well taped it was) is a polystyrene container.

Opening this container (which is also well taped) was an icepack. Admittedly, it had almost fully melted, but remained cold. This is to keep the chicken fresh, and stored at the correct temperature through postage.

The actual chicken breasts themselves are then placed inside of a large foodbag.

The packaging process is very similar to what Muscle Food does. I cover that over in my Muscle Food chicken breast review.

The Meat Of It

I didn’t weigh out each breast individually, but just by looking at them, these things are huge. Enough to put a smile of any man (or woman’s) face.

Seriously, these things were a meaty size. Even without weighing one of these, you know that just 1 breast will pack more than enough protein than you’ll need for that particular meal.

In my Protein Lifestyle Chicken Breast video review (above) you can get a better idea of the size of each breast.

Unlike some meat delivery services, the Protein Lifestyle chicken did not have a “funny smell”.

I’ve cooked mine on the pan and in the oven, and they cook just like any other regular chicken breast. Put your chefs hat on and go crazy.

Quality

As already mentioned, each chicken breast from Protein Lifestyle is a really good size. However I weigh all my portions out anyway, so I would just put enough on my plate to fit my macros.

The taste and texture was perfect, every time i’ve cooked it. Although this could just be due to my awesome chef abilities maybe?

I cook my chicken in just 2 ways. Pan fried and oven baked. Each breast was moist – not dry. They were easy to chew, cut through, and easy to swallow.

Overall I was genuinely thrilled with how these turned out.

I can’t remember the dates on the pack I got, however I know they were good for about 5 days after I received them.

I could easily go through 1kg of chicken a day, so for me this was perfect. However you’re able to package these up into portion sizes, put them into food bags and keep them in the freezer.

Just let them defrost over night before you cook them.

Value For Money

You’d be an idiot not to buy your chicken breast from Protein Lifestyle if you currently get them from the Supermarket.

A 5kg pack costs just over £26, and you can even use a discount code for Protein Lifestyle to get 10% off. This brings it to well under £5 a kg.

Compare with that what you’re paying at the supermarket. Then go put your order in over at Protein Lifestyle.

The customer service & delivery service was also top notch from Protein Lifestyle
