I first used Myprotein Impact Whey Protein around 5-6 years ago. Prior to sampling the delights of Myprotein (which now happens to be Europe’s #1 supplement retailer) I had used Body Fortress from Holland & Barret’s…. lets just say that was shit and I quickly looked for an alternative. I should note that the US has a different version of Body Fortress. You can check out our Body Fortress Whey Protein Review if you want to know more about that.
Recommended by a ton of people in many online bodybuilding forums, I tried Myprotein. I continue to rely on them as my number #1 brand for Whey Protein and other bodybuilding supplements. Myprotein Impact Whey offers the best value for money protein supplement on the market. Read my full Myprotein Impact Whey Review to find out why.
What is Impact Whey Protein?
Impact Whey from Myprotein is a high quality whey protein concentrate supplement. Whey protein is a fast absorbing protein powder, that is used by athletes and bodybuilders alike. Most commonly it is used post workout, or as a meal replacement to supplement a high protein diet for muscle building. Whey protein comes in 3 different variants, each offering a different level of bioavailability and absorption rate. Whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, and hydrolysed whey protein. Myprotein Impact Whey falls under the whey protein concentrate umbrella.
Whey protein concentrate is the most common & best selling protein powder worldwide. Impact Whey is also the best selling product that MyProtein offers. This is because whey protein concentrate offers the best bang for your buck. Whey protein concentrate usually weighs in at an average industry standard of 80% protein content, the rest of the supplement content being made up of lactose, other carbohydrates and fat. This means for every 100g of protein powder, you’ll be getting 80 grams of protein. Myprotein Impact Whey boasts protein content levels of 82%, higher than the industry average.
On top of this, Impact Whey features an excellent amino acid profile, and comes in a 1kg, 2.5kg and 5kg bags.
Taste, Texture & Mixability
Now impact Whey comes in a huge host of flavours, Myprotein offers this supplement in 28 different favlours at the time of writing, including unflavoured. During personal usage, and writing supplement reviews, I’ve tried many of these flavours out, my favourites being chocolate orange, chocolate mint, cookies & cream and banoffee. Staples such as strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate are fantastic to.
This being said i’ve never had a flavour ive not enjoyed, and even the unflavoured option tastes fine. By no mean’s is it the nicest, but unflavoured impact whey offers the cheapest option, and gives the cheapest supplement option on the market, and the best value for money protein powder available. Unflavoured Impact Whey tastes like powdered milk. It doesn’t really have a ‘taste’ as such. However, if i had to describe it, powdered milk would be the best comparable taste.
Post workout I always mix this water and drink it, however any other time through the day i’ll have it with milk. The texture depends on how much liquid you add to the protein powder. I like my protein shakes quite thick, and even when you’re mixing impact whey protein with water, you still get that awesome, creamy, thick milkshake consistency.
Occasionally the powder can clump, however if you mix it well enough in a shaker this is never a problem. The only time i’ve noticed it clumping is if i haven’t shuck it hard enough or for long enough (that’s what she said).
If you’re looking for the cheapest protein powder, that maintains a high degree of quality, then definitely pick up the unflavoured impact whey. A few years ago when VAT hit sports supplements in the UK, and prices rose on all protein powders and bodybuilding supplements, I changed from using flavoured powders (at the time i was using True Whey) to unflavoured powders to save some money. If price isn’t as much of an issue then go ahead and grab a flavour, you do pay a bit more for the flavouring, so its your call.
Just remember, that for value for money, unflavoured is the way to go and it doesn’t taste bad. However if you enjoy your protein shakes, and what to have a delicious shake as a meal replacement or a treat on the taste buds post workout, then definitely grab a flavoured option.

However don’t get me wrong, Impact Whey is a top tier product, and is rightfully so, Myprotein’s best selling protein powder.
When I was a University Student, bodybuilding on a budget, whey protein concentrate was my number 1 choice for whey protein powder. It contains everything you need to use pre workout, post workout, or as a meal replacement for the right price. As Myprotein.co.uk has expanded, its range of flavours could now be mistaken for an ice cream parlor menu, and the price has actually been driven down. For anyone looking for the best budget protein powder, there is only 1 choice in my opinion, and that is Impact Whey.
